DAY 2: Detroit: Become Human

Day two has offered us Detroit Become Human!

Honestly I was really excited for this game. It's one of my most recent purchases, picked up in a sale a few months ago along with Transistor (which we might be seeing later in the month...it's in the box). It looked exactly like the kind of game I'd adore.

...I think it might be.

I've been having a great time with this game so far. The graphics, the characters, the morals, the story, did I mention the GRAPHICS? I'm pretty sure this game has better graphics than my eyes do.

As of the time writing this, I've played 2.1 hours of this game and I've had an absolutely stellar time with it thus far. The concept behind the game, for anyone out of the know, is that society is now heavily reliant on androids, who look just like humans, are intelligent and concious, and are used for...well, everything, really. The shader compilation download screen boasts a range of AI, with uses spanning from housekeeping, protection and even a sexual parter.

This is also all done with graphics that look so human. You'd expect it to be creepy, but it honestly isn't.

Yknow, it kind of makes sense that a game about artifical life managed to mimic the visuals of it so very well.

The game starts by throwing you into an alarming situation: an android has snapped, killed its owner and is now holding the child it was meant to care for hostage on a rooftop. You are an android sent to try and reason with the deviant and rescue the child.

The controls have taken a little getting used to. I don't think this was originally made for PC, and I can kind of tell, but all and all it's pretty good. I'm just...not very good at walking, you see. In fact, I'm kind of bad at walking. Sorry to Carl, the old man in a wheelchair I accidentally wheeled into a wall. Sorry Carl.

CHARACTERS: I love the characterisation so far. Like I said before, this game seems to have done a stunning job on representing humanity; all these characters, even the androids, feel so real. My favourite of the three (so far) protagonists is Markus, an android working for a kind old painter who treats him like a son and encourages him to discover his identity as a living being.

Connor, too, I'm a fan of. His eyes look so gentle, but he's very obedient. This is what you'd hope for in an android, I suspect, but I'm anticipating some character development in the future...

Kara is the third. I don't...really know much about her yet. I do know I hate the man she works for though, he's a drunk abusive POS who's definitely on so much drugs and needs CPS to take his daughter away.

WILL I PLAY MORE: Yes. Very much yes. I'm looking forwards to it. I'll probably play more tomorrow. I want to experience this game.

RATING: 5/5 so far, oh my god. I think this game is going to be epic.
